Get to Know Farzana

I believe in the power of human excellence and how supporting each other helps makes us successful, both individually and collectively.  Therefore, I have connected the dots of the big picture in my life’s journey, while serving in various leadership roles in Toastmasters. 

I have worked as a professional architectural leader and a founder of an advocacy platform for leadership in Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM). I continually strive to develop as a person and therefore earned a doctoral degree based on my research in mentoring. I am also a published author.

I understand that it is an honor and privilege to serve as a leader. Serving with excellence requires us to enhance our skills in areas of emotional intelligence, empathy and relatability. I have learned that these are the key components of a servant leader.

Farzana:  

- Is a self-declared global nomad

- Loves global travel and capturing the beauty of the world through the lens of a camera

- Has written a poetry book

- Is a published author on Leadership topics

- Speaks and understands multiple languages

-  Considers her most valuable research project was “Leprosy Center”. It was an onsite research on existing “Leprosy Center and satellite clinics” around a megacity. The Center was providing the treatment and rehabilitation of humans impacted by leprosy. This life-changing experience molded Farzana’s vision to be part of human-centric initiatives.

Leadership is rewarding work when done to improve the quality of life of people impacted by our programs and projects. 

My extensive leadership opportunities have taught me that regardless of our professional titles, business or volunteer work, I (and we) must be Human Centered. 

Being a leader is a profound responsibility. As a leader we have to get work done, requiring that leaders:

- Add value to the project/program

- Listen carefully

- Communicate their vision clearly

- Integrate the multidisciplinary team

- Be mindful of human emotions

- Develop personal relationships with team members

- Build a team through relationship development

Above all, we must be authentic-humble leaders.
